As one of the nation’s largest inland river transporters, Marquette operates a newer fleet of 38 towboats, which transports agricultural products, aggregates, liquids and construction products to points along America’s inland waterway network. But instead of operating our own barges—and competing with our customers—Marquette leases its 600 dry cargo barges to its towing customers, helping them get their products to market faster.

Marquette is strategically located in Paducah, Kentucky—the epicenter of the river industry—where we operate three categories of vessels designed for The Lower Mississippi River, Swing and Locking Rivers. As a family-owned business, you could say we operate a pretty tight ship—from state-of-the-art communications and safety systems in our fleet to our reputation for safe operation and great transit times.
