Workin’ on the River
It’s hard to imagine a career working on the river without conjuring Ike and Tina Turner’s famous anthem, Rollin’ on the River. For most of us, the song speaks of hard work, a nomadic lifestyle, and freedom from the daily grind. But what’s it really like to work on a marine vessel? And what can you expect of an offshore career with Marquette?
Let’s put it this way: There’s no such thing as an eight-to-fiver on a towboat when it’s pushing 20 tons of steel down the Mississippi. You could be away from home for two weeks or 28 days. You could encounter rough weather or drop into bed more tired than you thought possible. You might see America as you’ve never seen it before. And maybe, just maybe, you could discover what our crews have—the experience of a lifetime.
