Safety behaviors and practices are a core value of Marquette Transportation. We recognize that protecting the safety, security and health of our employees, our equipment and our environment is vital to operating a world-class organization—and one reason Marquette is a leader in the marine transportation industry.
Marquette takes an aggressive stance to ensure that accidents and injuries are avoided and preventable through ongoing training and safety drills. We offer an integrated program of classroom, simulator and on-the-job training that stands as one of the more rigorous in the industry. Marquette conducts required U.S. Coast Guard and American Waterways Operator (AWO) Responsible Carrier drills and training, as well as our own internally developed safety, security and environmental programs.
Marquette Transportation is an active member of the AWO and its Inter-Regional Safety Committee, as well as a member of the USCG License Renewal Process Quality Action Team. Our fleet is equipped with the latest in communication, information and navigational safety technologies, including Jeppesen Marine, electronic navigation and charting, Furuno radars, Automated Identification System (AIS) technologies, and Operator Incapacitation Rudder Monitoring Systems.
